What’s On At Shorne Village Hall

Situated in the centre of Shorne, the Village Hall acts as a community centre for the Parish of Shorne and a focal point of use for those in he Medway Towns and Gravesend looking for a venue of interest outside their immediate area.

Prior to opening to the public, the hall was set up as a charitable trust in 1905. Shorne Parish Council acts as a Custodian Trustee but the charity is administered by a Management Committee made up of the various organisations who hire the hall on a regular basis.

in 1957 the hall was extended and in the late 1970’s it was enlarged to its present size. It now acts as a multi-function venue, providing good kitchen and toilet facilities and free car parking to hirers. It is ideal for wedding receptions, family celebrations and corporate.

Location

Situated in the centre of the picturesque village of Shorne in a conservation area, the hall act as a community centre for the for the benefit of Shorne and also attracts bookings from Gravesend and the Medway areas. With an interesting geographical position, a thousand year old church, surrounded by mature trees and with buildings spanning many centuries, the Village is much sought after as a residential location. All rooms to the hall are on ground floor and provide easy and unhindered access for the disabled.

The Community Centre Main Hall

An attractive room capable of seating over 100 persons in comfort for a full course dinner. The grand high ceiling and overhead windows give a light and airy atmosphere.

There is a full sized stage at the north side of the venue which is used for entertainment purposes when discos and/or/band concerts and other musical evenings are held.

This room has a wide variety of uses ranging from all types of celebrations such as 50th anniversary parties, christenings, birthday, wedding receptions to bowling, lectures and business meetings.

 

The Community Centre Small Hall

Part of the original village hall built in 1905 this is a room with great character with overhead beams and rustic charm. 45 persons can easily be seated here for dinner. It is used regularly for talks, receptions, lectures and other social meetings and is especially popular for children’s parties.

 

The Community Kitchen

This large room has been fitted out to a professional industrial catering standard with a double oven, six burner gas hobs, double oven hot cupboard, large fridge/freezer, 3 urns and stainless steel worktops throughout. The kitchen amenities are highly rated by the local authority who have given a top grading of Standard 4 Certificate to the facilities.

  • There is free parking provided with availability for 20 vehicles on the premises
